sniff. sniff.

My heart is aching right now knowing that I only have a few more days left with my handsome little fellas. It's that time of year again, where I must go and teach other peoples' children. I'm sad because I feel like I'm going to miss out on all the important moments. I want to be the first one to see my Noah roll over, and to watch Ari explore new things. I want to be the first to see the expression on their face when they try a new vegetable that they love, or a fruit that they don't care for. I'll miss out on the first sitting experience, the first standing experience, and probably the first walking experience. Hopefully they'll save all of these things for when I get home in the afternoon.

I LOVE hearing a great big burpie, and cleaning stinky butts. I love it when we read a story together after their second nap. There's nothing that I love more than seeing the two of them first thing in the morning...they give you the best gummy smiles and are so excited to see you.

Most mornings, I'll probably be gone before they wake up, and when I get home I'll only have a couple of hours with them before bath and bedtime. I can only hope that they get the same daily enriching activities that we've been able to have together over the past five months. I hope they don't forget me. : (

And on day four...

they ate a little more!

I'm still trying to get the hang of feeding the boys from a spoon, at the same time. Today was a little frustrating for me. I see how they eat a lot better when I consistently feed them one spoonful after another, so instead of doing one spoonful at a time, each got five at a time. It seemed to work a little better, and I know that eventually we'll get the hang of it. They are such good babies, and I thank them every day for being so patient with me!

Today was the BIG day!

My dear, sweet, little Ari rolled over today! In my eyes it's his first official time! He started this morning, and then did it again, and again, and again! Only problem is that he can't roll back just yet. So when he finally makes it onto his belly, he screams, and screams, until you roll him back over...only to roll back onto his tummy again! It's been a busy day.

Congratulations! Today is your day!

Happy 5 months my little darlings! As a birthday treat, today you had your first taste of rice cereal!

Your super cool new feeding ware!

First time in your new high chairs! Ari, you were very hungry!

What. is. that?

Okay, here goes nothing.

Not so sure about this stuff...

Noah, what do you think?

Oh, my gosh! Oh, my gosh!

Maybe, it's not so bad!

So the first rice cereal experience wasn't all that bad! I gave the boys their bottle first, and when they were near finished we switched over to the cereal. Ari wasn't too sure about the whole experience. He ate only a teaspoon or two and was done. He wouldn't open up his mouth anymore and turned his head away. Noah on the other hand was all about it! He kept on opening his mouth, and probably would have eaten a little more! Not too much spit up!

My sweet boys are 5 months old today! Where has the time gone?? It's amazing how much can change in such a short period of time. They can hold their heads up now, grab toys, rub their eyes when they're tired, smile, giggle, and totally notice each other!

Now mommy has a whole new set of challenges to overcome. I've mastered the tandem bottle feeding, but now we've moved on to adding solids. I'll figure it out...baby steps!

He's almost there!

Ari made every attempt to try to roll over today! It should be any day now!

Warning: Sweet, delicious babies ahead!

Lean on me...
Just call on your brother, when you need a hand...

I adore my sweet, delicious babies!!!! I can't believe I only have a few more days left with them. Sniff, sniff.

No, Noah!

For the past two days our dearest Noah has started sucking his thumb...one of my biggest pet peeves ever! I'm convinced that God is punishing me for giving an unnamed student a hard time about sucking her thumb last year. He even tries to stick it in his mouth while he's drinking from his bottle. This too, shall pass, and very soon I hope!

Whatever happened to my good little eaters?

The boys have become increasingly more difficult to feed over the last week. They start off okay, but then half-way through their feeding they begin to push their bottle out of their mouths with their hands. Then they scream because they want it back! I read yesterday that this is only a phase and that they should stop doing it in a couple of weeks. I've overcome the challenge of feeding two at the same time, but I guess they can't make it too easy for me! ; )

I think we have...

our first little chomper! Yes, I believe that Ari is getting his first little tooth! His hands have been in his mouth non-stop the past few days, and he's been drooling like crazy. I looked in his mouth this morning and noticed a few little white spots on his bottom gum. When I felt those little white spots they felt a bit sharp! Hopefully that little sucker will pop out soon! I'll try my best to get a picture!

uh, oh!

This was taken last Friday when I took Noah for his ultrasound at Children's Radiology in Alpharetta. I told Noah that the Doctor was going to take a picture of his hip...he didn't seem too thrilled!

In the previous post you will see that my sweet, sweet Ari is just about to roll over! Fingers crossed that this will happen before I go back to work. I would hate to miss the moment. I can't believe how fast the boys are growing. Just a year ago today we went in for our official blood pregnancy test, and got the best news ever! Being a mother is one of the BEST things that has ever happened to me!

and this is why...

I love my life!

One year ago today...

We had a big fat POSITIVE!!! The official test wasn't until a year ago tomorrow, but I couldn't wait any longer. After all of the negatives in years past, I was finally convinced that these things work!

Daddy saves the day!

I had my very first "I'm a terrible mother" moment yesterday. I had just a few more things to move over to my new classroom, so Mark and I quickly packed up the car and the the diaper bag, got the boys into their car seats, and took off. The boys were still in the midst of their nap, but I knew as soon as they woke up it would be time for linner (feeding between lunch and dinner).

As soon as we got to my classroom, of course, they woke very ready to eat. I opened up the diaper bag to make their bottles, and lo and behold, I forgot their bottles! The munchkins were screaming their heads off. Mark walked into the room as I had "Oh, s&@$" written all over my face.

Mark quickly remembered that we had an emergency stash of bottles in the car! We put them in the car a few months ago just in case we ever came upon a moment like this. Thank goodness we were prepared for the moment!

I still feel horrible, but the boys got to eat, and we all left happy.

Now I ain't sayin he's a gold digger!

sweet and scary

The boys continue to warm my heart each and every day...

holding hands...

Noah is finally getting really good at holding up his head!

The boys have started a bad habit of covering up their faces with their puppies. This makes me VERY nervous!

As I was washing bottles today, I put the boys on the floor for a little play time. It suddenly got a little too quiet. When I walked over to take a peek at what was going on this is what I saw...

the boys were totally into watching "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast!" Hopefully they don't catch on to a bad t.v. habit!

new beginnings

I moved into my new classroom today! It still has a good bit to go, but it's slowly starting to come together. It's really hard for me to think that I'll be back at work in five weeks. I hate knowing that I won't be with the munchkins during the day. Hopefully my list of to-dos will be respected by my mom and MIL. I can't wait until the boys start talking...then they'll really be able to tell me about their day!

The boys are growing like weeds! I've got two 16lb butterballs! They're smiling and giggling up a storm. It's been so much fun to watch each of them come to their own. They are so different! Ari is still very patient, but will definitely let you know when he's hungry. He pays such close attention to detail, and can play on his own for quite some time. Noah is still a little fiesty and is definitely mommy's little boy! He has a short attention span when it comes to playing independently, but loves all the attention he can get!

Both boys love to stick their hands in their mouth! We tell them no and take them out, but you've got to admit that sometimes it's really darn cute!

Noah loves sitting in the Bumbo! Ari doesn't mind it, but it's definitely not a favorite.

Just a few days ago the boys finally noticed each other! It was in the middle of tummy time when they made eye contact and giggled! So sweet! They've done it several times since. They've even "hand-cuffed" each other to themselves! I hope this isn't what the future holds for us! ; )

This is a picture from the Duluth fireworks! Both boys were out before they went off. Such great little twinkies!

Sylvia was able to fly out from California to visit for the 4th of July weekend! The boys loved her! We wish she lived just a little closer.

too little, too late

I'm feeling a bit like a horrible mother right now. My last post was when the boys turned exactly one month! They are now four months and eleven days old! I've missed out on posting letters and all of the milestones that they've hit so far...there just isn't enough time in the day. I have been good about keeping the camera handy though, so lots of pictures have been taken.

We had a great 4th of July weekend! Sylvia came to visit from California, and the boys loved her! We spent time together with family, saw some great fireworks (which the boys slept through), and the boys had their very first swim yesterday, which they weren't too fond of!

I promise that starting tomorrow I will become much better about updating our blog! They boys are growing up too fast, and I feel horrible for letting their first memories slip right through my fingers.

On another note...this very day last year Mark and I had our embryo transfer. Every day I think about how blessed we are to have those two amazing babies in our lives!
