Twice Blessed

Our new little twinkies! Ari is "Baby A" and Noah is "Baby B."

Our first family photo. : )

I realize that it's been a while, but the past month has been the most busy, non-stop, amazing month of our lives! My last post on February 21st was titles "In approximately 2 weeks..." well "In approximately 2 days would have been more accurate! My water broke on Monday, February 23rd around 7:30 p.m. (at exactly 36 weeks), and on February 24th at 2:20 a.m. and 2:21 a.m. our long awaited miracles were born! Ari came out first weighing in at 5.5 lbs and Noah second at
5.15 lbs.

We could not be any happier than we are now. Our family is complete and it's hard to imagine how life was without the twins; although I do remember what a good night of sleep once felt like!

In approximately two more weeks...

Mark and I will be parents!!! We had our final ultrasound yesterday and everything looked great. Ari weighed in at 5.11 lbs and Noah at 5.9 lbs! They're definitely on the right track so hopefully we'll have some meaty little butterballs!

The only downside to our ultrasound was the fact that the little munchkins weren't in the right positions. This means that I will more than likely be having a c-section. I don't know all the details yet, but should know more when Mark and I go to my appointment with Dr. Randell on Tuesday. I'm not terribly upset or nervous about the procedure itself; just worried about recovery and taking care of two newborns at the same time. I know that we'll have help, but I don't want to lose any bonding time with my boys! It also makes me a little sad knowing that I won't be able to hold and cuddle with them right away. What's best for them is most important!! I'm sure that all will be well.

A Sea of Success!

Isn't this a fun bathroom! Thanks to my sis for putting up the decals!

Once the twinkies learn how to sit on the toilet, which will hopefully be soon, they'll admire an ocean of wonder! : )
This is the cool coral shower curtain that I found on clearance at Target. It was the only one left so I was meant to have it!

What a wonderful world!

Mark and I strategically flipped a coin to decide who would claim each side!

The new spectator chair...very comfy!

The Twinkies' room and bathroom is finally finished, minus a few decorative touches! Their room will be our new world for a while. Time's a tickin!

5 more weeks and counting

We had our 32 week and 4 day ultrasound yesterday and everything looks wonderful! Ari was measuring in at approximately 4.5 lbs and Noah was right at 4 lbs. They're gaining about 1/2 lb a week! They're both almost head down as well...it would be fantastic to NOT have a cesarean. I am continuing to keep my fingers crossed! It's hard to believe that they'll both be here in just about one month. We can't wait to finally meet them!

Yesterday was my last day of work. As exciting as it may sound to go on bed rest, it kind of hits you that it won't really be so great when the time comes. I thought I'd be okay yesterday, but got a little teary several times. As much as I complain about going to work, I truly love what I do and the kiddos that I work with! They drive me crazy, but I miss them already! I know that the new long-term sub will be just fine with them. It's hard for me to give up control. I'm sure that once the Twinkies finally arrive I will no longer worry about not working!

Showered with Love

We had our first baby shower yesterday and it was completely and totally breathtaking! A HUGE thank you to my sister and brother-in-law for all of their hard work and thoughtfulness in putting everything together. Also a huge thank you to everyone for coming! The amount of gifts that we received was truly overwhelming! Mark and I are very lucky to have all of you in our lives.

Ta-Da!

Our cool dachshund lamp from Olozoo.

Don't you love the chair??? Our glider hasn't come in yet.

This bedding from Nurseryworks is appropriately called "Mac n Cheese!"

The Twinkies' room is almost finished! Cribs are up, bedding's in, now we just need a little child friendly decor...and our glider. I totally love it! Thank you, baby!

But wait, there's more...

It drives me crazy that for some reason I can only post five pictures per post. Here are some more pictures of the almost completed nursery. : )

Time's a tickin'

We joke about how hubby needs new power tools for every project. These are just a selection of tools used for this one. : )

This is the handy-paint work of Auntie N and Uncle M. What a great job they did! THANK YOU!!!

With 8 days left until our shower, hubby has been working his heart out on the Twinkies' room! And what an incredible job he has done! It's still not complete, but we're so much further ahead than from where we started. Auntie N and Uncle M came over with the boys last night to help. They were able to start and finish painting the bathroom. Even the boys pitched in! A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU, FROM ALL OF US!!!!!

Happy New Year!

Since about the age of five, losing weight has always been at the top of my list of resolutions...not this year!

As the new year rings in I hope for the happiest and healthiest babies in the world. I hope to be a wonderful, understanding, and patient mother and wife. I hope that God gives me all the energy that I need to keep up with two little munchkins! I intend to believe that there is no such thing as being super-mom, and if laundry needs to be put off for one day, or there are dishes left in the sink, it's nothing to beat myself up about. I have to let some of my OCDs go, and this will be the year to do it!

And of course after all of these things are said and done...I hope to lose the baby weight! : )

Happy 2009!

Let there be light!

After an evening of searching and searching, my designer at heart sister found this for us from Shades of Light. I haven't ordered it just yet, but I'm pretty sure that this is the light fixture that we're set on. I love it!

Thank you!

I would like to give a special thank you to my sister and brother-in-law for their artistic talents in painting! The pictures posted below show some of their amazing work! Love ya, guys! Also, thank you to my wonderful Hubby who is spending all of his free time in putting the Twinkies' room together. I have the best Hubby ever!

Before and During

Here's our work in progress!

These are the before shots. Good-bye butterflies!

So we're finally seeing some progress in the Twinkies' room! There's still a lot of trim work to be done, followed by a little more painting. Hubby promises to have it complete by our shower date!

Long ago

Growing up in the "Bible Belt" was never an easy task. Every morning of Christmas Eve I am taken back to a memory from long ago. When I was about 5ish, I remember getting out of bed after being tucked in. I would sit on this table that stood in front of my bedroom window and watch for Santa. I never saw him, and always woke up disappointed because I didn't get diddly squat!

I only hope that as a new mother I can help my twinkies understand who we are and where we come from, and why we don't celebrate Christmas. Gotta love the South!

Lullaby and Goodnight

Last night we finally bought the twinkies' cribs! We've been going back and forth the past few weeks trying to figure out what we wanted. First we decided to go with something a little more contemporary from Target, but after reading several reviews we quickly changed our minds. In the end, we were lead in the right direction and got a heck of a deal! It's exciting to see everything slowly coming together. I can't believe they'll be here in three more months!

Time after time

You would think that just having started this blog I would totally be on about keeping it up to date...sorry! The past couple of weeks have been so busy with class, work, and birthdays...it's hard to keep up. Things have been going really well so far. Mark and I went in for our first trimester screening this past Monday and everything looked excellent. Our chances of the babies having down syndrome and trisomy 13 and 18 were 1 in 10,000; which is basically a pretty slim chance. We were hoping to find out what the sexes, but all we were able to see were little tooshies. We go in for our next ultrasound on October 17th, so hopefully we'll know then! So far everyone is positive that Baby B (bottom picture) is a boy! Baby A (top) was uncooperative and decided that he/she wanted to look to the left during the profile shot!

Sleeping is starting to become a little uncomfortable again. I'm starting to feel a bit like a beached whale in bed. It's becoming a little harder to turn from side to side and I just can't seem to find a comfortable niche. When I finally do get comfortable, I then have to get up and pee!

I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow and I already look like I'm 6 months pregnant! I am so starting to feel huge. I'm very curious as to what I'm going to look like in March when the twinkies arrive.
Each day I'm becoming more and more excited about being a mom. I can't wait to hold my little ones and finally see what they look like...although they definitely need to take their time baking in the oven!
